When Lumo Digital Outdoor approached Clear Hayes at the beginning of 2021, they had a clear task in mind, to increase their overall communications strategy in New Zealand, and further their foothold in the Australian market.

As the Out of Home sector had taken a hit during the Covid-19 pandemic, Lumo knew they needed to position themselves as the champions of OOH, and needed a way to promote creativity, innovation and future thinking within the sector.

Working closely with the Clear Hayes team across Auckland and Sydney, Lumo Digital Outdoor began an intensive programme to expand and improve the communications of its in-house brands, LENS Outdoor, Lumo Labs and Pixels.

Across the board there was a lot happening for the New Zealand owned business. It’s three brands encompassed audience accountability data collection, OOH creative software and LUMO’s owned awards nights.

Clear Hayes worked with Lumo to identify relevant opportunities within the market to extend its share of voice, and worked closely with the in house Marketing and content team to plan, write and distribute media releases across Australia and New Zealand.

We utilised our trans-tasman team and their media relationships to secure press spots for a range of LUMO, LENS and LABS news, and were able to tell the businesses story as it grew from a start up to one of the most innovative digital out of home companies in the world.


In just three months of our partnership we helped Lumo Digital Outdoor achieve the following;

  • 18 pieces of coverage across all major trade media
  • 6 Across Australia
  • Thought leadership pieces/comments online: Mumbrella x2
  • Subjects covered included technology, industry evolution and future thinking
  • Pushed campaigns, new tech advancements and new hire announcements covering major trade media.

Alongside these media placements, Clear Hayes also assisted the digital out of home company with brand building content, including brand strategies for both LUMO and LENS, and also helped plan their appearance for Advertising Week 2021.

On top of this, Clear Hayes created two of LUMO Digital Outdoors’ award entries for the New Zealand based Beacon and New Zealand Marketing Awards. In both instances Lumo were shortlisted alongside many global companies.

Now this partnership has been extended and Clear Hayes are looking forward to helping LUMO Digital Outdoor extend its voice further into the APAC market.
